Licensing
RetroBat remains free software. APIExpose is an independent plugin, licensed separately — it does not make RetroBat a paid product.
Personal use
Personal, educational, community and non-commercial use is free. One personal machine = one personal APIExpose license.
Commercial use
Any commercial use requires a written license: arcade cabinets, mini-PCs, preconfigured hard drives, SD cards or USB drives, digital packs, preconfigured RetroBat distributions, paid installation or support services — and more generally any paid offer where APIExpose is included, advertised, configured or used.
1 machine sold = 1 APIExpose reseller license
A reseller may not copy a personal license to multiple machines, nor hide APIExpose license information.
The Data Pack
The data files — XML, .MEM files, mappings, RAM definitions, outputs, panels, profiles and metadata — form the APIExpose Data Pack, protected by a dedicated license (DATA-LICENSE.md). It ships with the releases for personal use; its commercial redistribution follows the same rules as the plugin.
The full texts
In the repository and in every release archive:
LICENSE.md— the general license;PERSONAL-LICENSE.md— personal use;COMMERCIAL-LICENSE.md— commercial and reseller use;DATA-LICENSE.md— the Data Pack;NOTICE.md— the reseller notice.
Bundled third-party tools (ffmpeg, ImageMagick, translateLocally) remain under their respective licenses.
